Skype is a popular communication platform that allows users to make voice and video calls, send messages, and share files with others. When you first create a Skype account, you are asked to choose a username, also known as a Skype name. This name is used to identify you on the platform and is visible to your contacts. However, if you want to change your Skype name for any reason, it is a simple process. In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the process of changing your Skype name.

Step 1: Log in to your Skype account

The first step to changing your Skype name is to log in to your account. Open the Skype application on your computer or mobile device and enter your login credentials. If you are already logged in, skip to the next step.

Step 2: Go to your profile settings

Once you are logged in, click on your profile picture or avatar in the top left corner of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu. From the menu, select “Settings” to access your profile settings.

Step 3: Edit your profile

In the settings menu, click on the “Edit profile” button. This will take you to your profile page where you can make changes to your personal information.

Step 4: Change your Skype name

On your profile page, you will see your current Skype name listed under your profile picture. Click on the pencil icon next to your Skype name to edit it. A pop-up window will appear where you can enter your new Skype name. Keep in mind that your new Skype name must be unique and not already in use by another user.

Step 5: Save your changes

After entering your new Skype name, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the pop-up window. Your new Skype name will now be saved and displayed on your profile page.

Step 6: Log out and log back in

In order for your new Skype name to take effect, you will need to log out of your account and log back in. To do this, click on your profile picture in the top left corner of the screen and select “Sign out” from the drop-down menu. Once you have logged out, log back in using your new Skype name and password.

Step 7: Inform your contacts

Now that your Skype name has been changed, it is important to inform your contacts so they can update their contact lists. You can do this by sending a message to your contacts or by posting a status update on your profile.
