How to Refund a GOG Game

Last Updated: Jan 26, 2024 by

GOG, formerly known as Good Old Games, is a popular digital distribution platform for video games. While GOG offers a wide selection of games and a DRM-free experience, there may be times when you need to request a refund for a game. In this article, we will discuss the GOG refund policy and the steps you need to take to refund a GOG game.

GOG Refund Policy

Before purchasing a game on GOG, it is important to understand their refund policy. GOG offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for all games purchased on their platform. This means that you can request a refund within 30 days of purchase for any reason. However, there are some conditions that must be met in order to be eligible for a refund.

Firstly, the game must not have been played for more than 2 hours. If you have played the game for more than 2 hours, you will not be eligible for a refund. Additionally, if you have purchased a bundle that includes the game you want to refund, you will not be able to refund the game individually. You will need to refund the entire bundle.

Requesting a Refund

To request a refund for a GOG game, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the GOG website and log into your account.
  2. Click on your username in the top right corner and select “Account” from the drop-down menu.
  3. On the left side of the page, click on “Orders and Settings.”
  4. Find the game you want to refund and click on “More” next to it.
  5. Select “Refund item” from the drop-down menu.
  6. Fill out the refund request form, including the reason for your refund.
  7. Click on “Submit” to send your request.

Once your request has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the GOG team. If your request meets the refund policy requirements, you will receive a confirmation email and the refund will be processed within 14 days. The refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.

Refund Exceptions

There are some exceptions to the GOG refund policy. If you have purchased a game that is still in development, also known as an “Early Access” game, you will not be eligible for a refund. Additionally, if you have purchased a game that has been marked as non-refundable, you will not be able to request a refund.

While GOG offers a generous refund policy, it is important to make sure you meet the requirements before requesting a refund. If you have any issues or questions regarding the refund process, you can contact GOG’s customer support for assistance.
