If you’re a businessperson searching for a 13-inch laptop under $500, look no further. The most acceptable option is an Apple Macbook Air. It’s small and light, yet its performance and quality will astound you. It is the most outstanding 13-inch laptop for professionals and students under $500.

Design

The unibody aluminum chassis of the MacBook Air is so distinctive that it conjures up images of the late 2000s and early 2010s in my mind. It was the new kid on the block back then, but today everyone from Acer to LG is producing slimmer metallic unibody laptops.

Display

The 1440 x 900-pixel screen on the MacBook has aged worse than any of its other features, missing full HD and bright colors. The Air compensates for its lack of color by generating up to 336 nits of brightness. It outshines the 290-nit category average.

Keyboard and trackpad

The MacBook Air provides a pleasurable typing experience, with keys that truly move — something I’ll never take for granted again. The 4.0 x 2.9-inch trackpad of the MacBook Air provides excellent tracking and a solid feel to each click. The 1.4 millimeters of travel in the keys, which take 72 grams of effort to activate, allow for that speed and the comfort we felt throughout the test.

Port

With a Mag Safe 2 charging connection and headphone jack on the left and an SDXC memory reader and Thunderbolt 2.0 port on the right, the Air divides its two USB 3.0 ports across its sides.

Performance

This laptop can help you multitask efficiently with a T2 security chip within its body for data security and a 4 GB to 12 GB hard disc.

Life of the Battery

The battery also lasts for more than 12 hours, which is impressive. It is, if not better, the most excellent thin laptop with a strong battery life within budget for all sorts of work.

Pros
  • Observation of better sights
  • Components have improved performance.
  • The fastest processing speed possible
  • The battery has a long life span.
Cons
  • Upgrading components is essential for higher-end jobs.

Storage 256GB SSD
Display 13 inch
Battery 3.5 Hours
Weight 2.02 Kilograms
Dimensions 34 x 34 x 6 cm

The Chuwi Corebook Pro is an excellent small laptop. The 3:2 aspect ratio is a real eye-opener, and although we might criticize the Skylake-based Intel chipset, it does provide some impressive test results.

Design

The Corebook Pro strikes us as being “squarer” than rectangular at first glance. It is because it is a laptop with an unusual 3:2 aspect ratio, which was popularized by Apple’s iPad tablet line. Keeping with the Apple motif, the engineers have chosen a complete metal chassis, most likely made of aluminium, and a Space grey colour scheme. It’s small and substantial, measuring 21.9 x 29 x 1.85cm and weighing 2.02 Kilograms.

Display:

When the laptop is working hard, the CPU heats up a lot, which causes the fan to spin. However, we were pleasantly delighted by the processor’s performance, with the GPU, in particular, standing out.

Touchpad and keyboard:

The keys are adequately sized, with an excellent feel and travel. However, the absence of page up/down and home/end buttons is surprising. It’s worth noting that the keyboard is illuminated and edge-to-edge.

Performance:

It is a model from 2016, with two cores, four threads, and a 2.4GHz base clock. Given that it is based on a 14nm technology and contains an Intel Iris Graphics 550 processor graphics, its TDP of 28W isn’t unexpected. When the laptop is working hard, the CPU heats up a lot, which causes the fan to spin. However, we were pleasantly delighted by the processor’s performance, with the GPU, in particular, standing out.

Port and Connectivity:

The Corebook Pro has the bare essentials of connectivity: a TF slot, a headphone jack, a Type-A USB port, a Type-C port, and a proprietary port for barrel chargers.

Pros
  • Excellent value for money
  • Very nicely constructed
  • Keyboard with backlighting
  • Long-lasting battery
Cons
  • Processor from the past
  • There is no HDMI connection.
  • A laminated screen

Dimensions 31.5 x 21 x 1.9 cm

Jumper laptop is a budget-friendly and elegant laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed. The Jumper EZBook X3 was created to be used as a portable device for business or school. It has a 13.3-inch screen, an Intel Celeron N3450 CPU, and a sufficient number of ports.

The Jumper EZBookX3 laptop weighs just 1.23kg, so you won’t have any trouble bringing it about with you. Its form makes it simple to transport while still allowing you to utilise all of the computer’s features. Because of its mobility, this notebook is also suitable for usage at home.

Design

The Jumper Ebook X3 is a beautiful, light laptop with a small bezel design and a 1.23kg weight. It features a robust plastic top and a flimsy (but sturdy) base. It features a full-size keyboard that is a little springy in the middle. It may cause some pain when typing, but I believe it is enough.

The EZbook X3 sports a streamlined design similar to the MacBook Air. One USB 3.0 port and an audio port are located in the right corner.Overall, the design is attractive and contemporary. It includes two speakers underneath the display area that sound rather loud despite the lack of bass.

Display

The Jumper EZbook X3 laptop sports has a 13.3-inch IPS full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 165ppi. With up to 16 million display colours, this laptop display is detailed and precise.

The viewing angle is broad, and the colours seem to be rich. On the other hand, the brightness levels should improve, and while watching movies or playing games, the screen gets darker than desired. A 60Hz refresh rate provides an excellent viewing experience for films and online browsing.

Performance:

The dual-core Intel Celeron (Apollo Lake) N3450 CPU in the Jumper EZbook X3 laptop runs at 1.1GHz-2.4GHz. It is best suited for light daily tasks like online surfing, emailing, and video viewing. This device’s low-end CPU isn’t up to the effort of handling many tasks, making it unsuitable for demanding work. When you open up to five tabs in your browser, you indicate that you’re prepared to wait longer for pages to load.

It has 8GB storage ram and 128GB of eMMC storage for reliable performance. It doesn’t have many ports, but the ones it does have should suffice: two USB 3.1 ports, a Mini HDMI port, a card reader, an audio combo jack, and a proprietary power connection.

Port and Connectivity:

Another USB 3.0 port is positioned on the left-hand side of the keyboard, HDMI output, and the power button, located on the top right corner.

Battery Life:

The Jumper EZbook X3 laptop has an excellent battery life, with roughly 48 hours of standby time and 6 hours of battery life when used for an average time and at a low brightness setting. However, if you use it often, you may need to recharge it every 2-3 hours.

Pros
  • It is cost-effective.
  • It is made of light material.
  • The battery life is adequate.
Cons
  • Build quality is poor.

Business laptops are often bland and dull, reflecting the business market they were designed for. HP’s new EliteBook x360 G2 proves that your professional laptop should be just as stylish, comfy, and powerful as your laptop

Design

The EliteBook x360 G2, the most gorgeous business laptop I’ve ever seen, maintains HP’s winning record in premium design. The 13.3-inch, 1080p touch screen, backlit keyboard, and sleek diamond-cut surrounding the touchpad and fingerprint reader are all visible when the lid is lifted.

The company’s current logo is featured on the silver, aluminium unibody laptop, which is only seen on the company’s top-of-the-line devices. The EliteBook is used in a variety of ways thanks to its 360-degree hinges, including as a laptop, tablet, tent (an upside-down “V”), and display (with the keyboard facing down).

Display

The EliteBook’s display has vibrant colours, but it isn’t very bright. It has 109 per cent of the sRGB colour spectrum is reproduced by the EliteBook. The EliteBook, however, isn’t as bright as other 2-in-1s, with a brightness of 239 nits.

Touchpad and keyboard:

The keyboard doesn’t seem shallow, even though it only has 1.2 millimetres of travel and requires 65 grammes of effort to hit the keys. It’s responsive and clicky. A few keys on the function row are designed for business and everyday conveniences, like altering the volume and brightness. On Skype for Business conversations, there are separate buttons for answering and hanging up and a button that goes right to your Outlook calendar.

The 4.3 x 2.6-inch precision touchpad is smooth and responsive, and you can simply and consistently execute motions like tapping four fingers to activate the Action Center and pinching to zoom.

Performance

The EliteBook is more than ready for a cornucopia of research and spreadsheets, with a 2.8-GHz Intel Core i7-7600U CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB PCIe solid-state drive. The EliteBook x360 isn’t a good graphics performance, thanks to its integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. It clocked in at only 21 frames per second on the Dirt 3 test, matching the XPS 13 but falling short of the average (33 fps) and our 30-fps playability requirement.

Connectivity and port:

The laptop’s sides feature enough ports to accommodate a modest cache of peripherals. A USB 3.0 port, a headphone jack, and a smart-card reader are located on the right side. A microSD card slot, Thunderbolt 3, a Kensington lock slot, HDMI output, another USB 3.0 port, and the power connector are all on the left.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • The design is stunning.
  • Long-lasting battery
  • Several security settings are available.
  • Excellent keyboard.
Cons
  • Display that is dimmer than usual

The Dell Latitude 13 Education Series is a 13-inch touch-screen laptop that runs Windows 8.1 Pro and is designed for K-12 students.

Design

The Dell Latitude 13 laptop for Education is a beast, but not how you may expect. The laptop’s lid, deck, bezel, and bottom are coated in a rough, grey plastic that’s grip-friendly and smudge-resistant, designed to endure drops in crowded halls. It has black rubber on the borders to absorb shocks.

A glossy Dell logo sits on the lid, with a network status indicator light above it, which adds a pleasant touch and allows instructors to see whether pupils are working or merely browsing the Web at a glance. The six-cell lithium-ion battery, which is housed at the bottom of the laptop, protrudes by nearly an inch, adding weight to the already bulky notebook. The non-touch versions of the Latitude 13, which only have a four-cell battery, will not have this protrusion and will be 0.2 pounds lighter.

Display:

The 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768 touch screen of the Latitude 13 is vivid and snappy. The graphics washed away when we tilted the screen beyond 45 degrees due to the restricted viewing angles. We had to stand precisely above the system when we placed the laptop flat on a tabletop to watch films well. The glossy Corning Gorilla Glass panel also generated glare. The Latitude 13 covered 65.9% of our colourimeter’s sRGB colour gamut.

Touchpad and Keyboard

The island-style keyboard on the Latitude 13 was quite comfortable to type on. The keys have enough travel and depth, and they’re slightly bent for better finger positioning. The 3.4 x 2-inch touchpad underneath the keyboard was snappy, allowing us to quickly access the Windows 8 Charms menu by swiping in from the right side of the trackpad. On websites and photos, two-finger scrolling and pinch-to-zoom worked great. The two durable buttons at the bottom of the pad were also convenient for triggering left and right clicks.

Performance:

The Latitude 13 gave adequate day-to-day performance thanks to its 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i3-4005U CPU and 4GB of RAM. The Latitude 13 provides an excellent casual gaming experience for students who want to mix study and pleasure, but it isn’t up to heavy lifting.

Battery Life:

It has 10 hour battery life.

Ports and connectivity:

Power, Ethernet, HDMI, miniDisplayPort, and USB 3.0 with PowerShare ports are on the left edge. An SD Card reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, a second USB 3.0 port, and a security cable slot are all located on the right side.

Pros
  • A battery that lasts a long time
  • Loudspeakers
  • There are several choices for connecting.
  • Built to last and withstand spills
Cons
  • The design is substantial.
  • The screen is dimly lit.
  • Quite costly.
